Formulation and processing of novel non-aqueous polyethylene glycol-in-silicone oil (o/o) phase change emulsions

چکیده

Oil-in-oil phase change emulsions, composed of materials (PCMs) dispersed in a continuous oily medium, have never been reported the literature. The current study involves formulation, stabilisation and characterisation novel anhydrous emulsions polyethylene glycol (PEG4000) as PCM silicone oil. Emulsions with different concentrations were evaluated by analysing viscous flow properties, optical microscopy modulated differential scanning calorimetry. results evidence that can be pre-stabilised at 80 °C, under high shear conditions, selecting an adequate surfactant but undergo severe destabilisation after cooling heating cycle. Nevertheless, post-processing protocol (low agitation °C for 24 h) leads to thermal cycle resistant storage stable non-aqueous dispersions. This process gives rise reduction shear-thinning character emulsion, shifts melting crystallization temperature PEG4000 lower values reduce its crystallinity. is attributed partial compatibility crystalline fraction other compounds emulsion.

Water potential of aqueous polyethylene glycol.

Water potential (Psiomega) values were determined for aqueous colloids of four molecular sizes of polyethylene glycol (PEG) using freezing-point depression and vapor-pressure deficit methods. A significant third-order interaction exists between the method used to determine Psiomega, PEG molecular size, and concentration. At low PEG concentrations, freezing-point depression measurements result i...

Silicone emulsions.

Silicone polymers are a class of hybrid organic/inorganic polymers, that show desirable surface properties such as low surface energy and high flexibility, which enables even a very high molecular weight chain to achieve optimal orientation at the interface. They have excellent physical properties such as water repellency, heat stability, and high resistance to chemical and UV attack. Silicone ...

Non-aqueous Isorefractive Pickering Emulsions

Non-aqueous Pickering emulsions of 16-240 μm diameter have been prepared using diblock copolymer worms with ethylene glycol as the droplet phase and an n-alkane as the continuous phase. Initial studies using n-dodecane resulted in stable emulsions that were significantly less turbid than conventional water-in-oil emulsions. This is attributed to the rather similar refractive indices of the latt...

Effect of polyethylene glycol on the liquid-liquid phase transition in aqueous protein solutions.

We have studied the effect of polyethylene glycol (PEG) on the liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) of aqueous solutions of bovine gammaD-crystallin (gammaD), a protein in the eye lens. We observe that the phase separation temperature increases with both PEG concentration and PEG molecular weight. PEG partitioning, which is the difference between the PEG concentration in the two coexisting pha...
